Smart tariffs for battery owners
Compare the whole bill with and without a battery: the ordinary daytime rate, the length of the cheap window and the standing charge count as much as the cheapest rate. Below is what suppliers state about their windows, rates and who can join. Many of these tariffs are built for electric cars, heat pumps or solar owners, so read the eligibility lines before you count on a rate.
Prices in your region: EDF and Octopus
Snapshot for 2026-10-26, read 2026-10-26. Select your electricity region. Monthly Direct Debit, VAT-inclusive fields exactly as published by the supplier APIs. Times are UK local time; 24:00 means the end of this date. Northern Ireland is outside these GB tariff regions.
These are named tariff versions, not personal offers. EDF and Octopus Go require an EV; Cosy has heating eligibility. Check the supplier’s current criteria below. A battery alone does not qualify you. No sign-up or personal details are sent when you use this selector.

London is shown initially; without JavaScript that table stays on London. Rates can change after the snapshot. Different tariff versions may be available together: check which one your actual quote names. Export rows are payments to you, not import costs. The calculator supports two import rates and one export rate, so multi-band tariffs need simplification.
What each supplier states, tariff by tariff
Most cheap night rates in the UK are sold to electric-car drivers. A battery can only use a cheap rate that covers the whole home, so check the labels first. “EV required” means the supplier’s own page says so.
